Advantages: not very expensive, lots of uses
Disadvantages: none
Spruce essential oil is distilled from the needles and twigs of the Canadian Spruce tree. This evergreen tree gives a resinous, campor-smelling oil which is a must for everyone's medicine cabinet. For asthma and bronchitis use in a warm bath. Colds and 'flu' symptoms can be eased by adding 5 drops of oil to a bowl of boiling water, placing a towel over the head and inhaling the vapour. Don't use this method if you are asthmatic. (Asthmatics should NEVER inhale essential oils in this manner.) Anxiety and stress can be relieved by soaking in a warm bath as described above, or by using the oil in a diffuser or burner. This is a safe oil as it is non-toxic, non-irritant, and non-sensitizing. (NOT SUITABLE IF YOU ARE PREGNANT). This oil is very useful to have in your medicine cabinet. Get it out at the first sign of coughs and colds. I find it most useful as a massage oil for the upper chest and back as soon as a cough or cold starts. (Cheaper than Vick and it doesn't smell so strong, isn't greasy and won't burn your skin.)

- 31/03/02 VU because it has all the facts. However there are so many of these fine oils around now there are enough for everyone to write an opinion on one and not repeat another.
If it works for you then it is worth recommending, thanks.
