Advantages: Taste nice, work to soothe throat
Disadvantages: Effects don't last the 2 hours between doses
When I have a sore throat and stuffed nose I tend to use some sort of liquid medicine such as Lemsip or Beechams teamed up with lockets or Halls soothers however when I was in my local Asda store last year I noticed that their Strepsils were on offer at half price and so decided to buy them instead of my usual Lockets. A packet of Strepsils is usually £2.80 for a 24 pack and £3 for a 36 pack obviously this makes the 36 pack much better value.
Strepsils are available in a wide variety of flavours so there should be a flavour that will suit you,
*Honey & Lemon
*Original
*Warm
*Orange Vitamin C
*Cool
*Blackcurrant
*Strawberry Sugar Free
*Cherry
*Sore Throat & Blocked Nose
*Sore Throat & Cough
Strepsils come packaged in a cardboard box although more recently I have seen the warm version in a plastic tube, the box is pretty much the same idea no matter which flavour you buy, the background is white and these ones have yellow on the bottom corner. The name of the product is on the box and honey and lemon is written across in the same yellow as on the corner, it is stated on the box that these contain 2,4-Dichlorobenzyl Alcohol and Amylmetacresol, these are mild antiseptics which is how these lozenges help your throat.
Children over 6 and adults can take these lozenges, one lozenges can be sucked every 2 hours and there is a maximum of 12 lozenges in 24 hours, obviously 1 lozenge every 2 hours would be 12 lozenges in 24 hours anyway so they can be taken throughout the whole day without running out of doses.
Inside the box you find that the stepsils are in strips of 12 and are in see through plastic which is back with foil, to use a lozenge you simply press the plastic at the front to pop it through the foil at the back and then pop it in your mouth and suck until it's gone.
I liked the taste of these strepsils and found the taste of honey was nice and sweet although I also bought the strawberry version and think I prefer them, the lozenges certainly help to take away the tickle in your throat and they are working by the time you have finished sucking the lozenge. I would give these lozenges 4 stars as they taste nice and are a pretty good price however the effects don't last the two hours you have to leave between doseages.
Summary: A good product to help ease your throat
