You know how it is the minute that the weather begins to change for the colder you catch the first bug that is going around. If I was a bloke I would naturally have bird flu and not from some small chicken mine would be from an emu no less. Being of the fairer sex all I actually have is a sore throat and an annoying cough.

Strepsils are a well known brand and come in a variety of flavours. I have chosen blackcurrant for myself but there is also lemon, honey cherry and strawberry in my local chemists.

A pack of 24 costs £2.59 which is not cheap but I could not be bothered to travel to Boots to buy their own brand which is cheaper.

They resemble a hard boiled sweet and come in 2 strips of twelve and reuire you to press them through foil to get at the sweet.

The recommendation is not to give them to children under 6 and no more than 12 should be taken in a 24 hour period. You simply pop them into your mouth and let them slowly dissolve.

There is a feint black currant taste to them but the overpowering taste in one of antiseptic.

They do provide a mild amount of relief to my sore throat but overall the effects are rather disappointing and after three days there has been no real benefit so I would not recommed them.

They are not suitable if you are carbohydrate intolerant and they may cause allergic reactions and asthma according to the packet especially if you are allergic to aspirin.

Active ingredient is Hexylresorcinol 2.4mg.
