Advantages: Taste ok, they help

Disadvantages: Quite pricey

I'm basing my review on the Strepsils extra blackcurrent flavour as they are the ones I have been using over the past week.

Last Tuesday I experienced the dreaded bug that seems to be going around where I live at the moment, sore throat, head aches and feeling rubbish. As a seasonal suffererof tonsillitus I know exactly what to do with a sore throat and this includes stocking up on 'sucky sweets'.

My mum came back with a pack for me that I believe to have cost about £2.40 for 12.

The box is white with Strepsils in black writing with 'pain relief for sort throats' written on it. Extra is written in purple and it also carries on to say Black current lozenges Hexylresoricinol anthesthetic and antiseptic action. Basic packaging but you dont need something flashy, its simple and explains what it does.

On the back there is alot more information including dosage, ingredients and warnings.

These are only for children 6 years and older, adults and the elderly. It's one lozenge every 3 hours with no more than 12 over 24 hours.

It also states to watch people from choking, contact a doctor if you have taken too many and to be careful of being alergic.

The come in foil wrappers where you push through, like alot of medication. They are quite large, prpabably about 50p coin size.

You have to suck them. I'm not very good at describing tastes but I would say sort of a funny minty blackcurrent taste. Not unpleasent but not like a blackcurrent sweet. You can feel it cooling your throat which is nice and they do work in soothing the pain although I wouldnt rely on them. You still need the paracetomol, warm drinks and the day in bed feeling sorry for yourself.

All in all an essential prodcut for winter with all the heebie geebies going around.

Summary: Its good to have a packet in your first aid box over winter.

I've had the same bug too but tend to have hot drinks with honey instead. Good review.
