Advantages: Short-term relief from coughing

Disadvantages: They aren't half as good as I expected them to be

Recently when I developed a nasty cough, and obviously resulting in a raw sore throat, I bought a packet of Strepsils, after seeing the adverts on television (who says TV ads don't work). They are 'anti-bacterial' lozenges, so I assumed that they would put a stop to the knife-like pain in my throat.

But I soon found that the description of the pack proved to be truer than I expected. "Fast, effective relief from sore throats". Yes they helped the throat a little, but the only "fast" thing was the length of time they helped - after 10 minutes my throat (and cough) were both as bad as ever.

Strepsils DO stop your coughing for a short time, but they definetely aren't the "medicine for sore throats" that the advert's portray them as.
