Advantages: Almost instant relief, long relief, effective relief
Disadvantages: None expect the vaious side effects that may lay claim to several people not being able to use this
One of the most irritating and unpleasant aspects arising from a common cold, sinus and hayfever is nasal congestion. I would not like to go into much detail about the obvious substances that block the nasal passages as it would probably put you all off. On the many occasions that I suffered from a cold I was taking alternative medications that helped in allieviating the cold symptoms by making them somewhat tolerable. But none of these medications could totally erase the nasal congestion that is associated with a cold. Even though the running is curtailed you can just feel it all clogged up and ready to escape as soon as the effects of the medication start to deteriorate. It was just recently that I was introduced to Sudafed Tablets. Being a smoker the symtoms associated with a cold are somewhat inflated and after discussing my dilemma with a close friend he suggested that I try Sudafed Tablets. This medication is abolutely incredible. After just 30 minutes of taking my first tablet the dripping stopped. Not only that the congestion in the nasal passages also cleared after giving it a good blow and did not clog up again after a short time, which is usually the case when taking other cold relief tablets. Sudafed is a preparation that targets the nasal congestion aspect of your cold. Other medications try to do a bit of everything i.e. something for the congestion, something for the body aches/pains that go with a cold, something for the body temperature that is usually eratic during the course of a cold. However since the nasal congestion forms a bulk of the problem, if it is treated properely then you will only suffer from the other symptoms mildly. Sudafed contains 60mg of Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride as its active ingredient. As many of you might be aware many a sportsman or sportswoman have been tested positive for ephedrine and subsquently banned. The reason for this is because ephedrine clears not only th
e nasal passages but also the other passages in the lungs and throat and increases the heart beat. This helps athletes especially runners. The usual packing is 24 tablets in a box. The tablets are packed twelve in a blister strip packing and two strips in each box. The tablets themselves are a brownish-red colour and are film coated, which makes them easy to swallow. Dosage is one tablet to be taken every 4 to 6 hours and a maximum of 4 tablets in 24 hours. Children should not be given these tablets. Another great thing about this particular tablet is that they do not contain any sleep inducing elements i.e. they are "Non Drowsy". This is not the case with many other cold treatment medications. If taken in the correct dosage the side effects are very rare but may cause sleep disturbances, increased heart beat, skin rash, dry mouth, nose or throat or difficulty in passing urine. I purchased mine from Pharmacy2u and they presently have them on a special offer of £2.99 for the pack fo 24 tablets. Other products in the Sudafed range include Sudafed Compound tablets, Dual Relief Capsules, Dual Relief Max Tablets and Nasal Spray. All of these are made for the common cold and target primarily nasal congestion. These other products also include paracetamol and caffiene as ingredients. They are made by the giant pharameutical firm Warner Lambert and therefore the quality aspect is certainly assertained. Overall I have found these to work excellently and they will certainly be my choice for a long time to come. Mind you I might consider trying out one of the other products in the Sudafed range the next time, but Sudafed will certainly by my choice in the future.
