Advantages: works, varied uses, good value, easily available

Disadvantages: none

I got a free small tub of sudocrem in my Bounty bag when my son was born, but soon had invested in a large 400g tub. It is widely available in supermarket baby aisles, pharmacists, Boots etc. I paid £6.99 for our tub, though prices can vary. It is also available in a smaller 250g, 125g and 60g tubs and a 30g tube. However, the smaller tubs and tube are not as widely available. The product is packaged quite plainly in a grey tub with a white label with red printing on it. The lid has a small lip on it to make it easy to remove, though I can't remove it with one hand while holding my son's legs in the air!!!

The product itself is a white thick cream. It can be applied directly to a baby's skin using a finger or cotton wool. The product rubs across the skin well but doesn't rub in, and a film is still visible after application. This obviously doesn't matter in the nappy area, but may be an issue if you are applying it to treat eczema on the face or arms. The products is primarily marketed to tackle nappy rash and nappy soreness, but can also be used to treat cuts, grazes, minor burns, sunburn and eczema.

We have only used the product to treat a slight eczema type rash on my son's chest (from dribble) and nappy soreness. If an area was red, we applied it! I found that the next time I looked after the application the redness would have gone, though bumps on the rash were still present. It was easy to apply and use and didn't cause any irritation to my son.

Summary: get rid of redness quickly and easily.

It's also good for finger painting on the furniture and each other...which is what happened when my two got hold of a tub when they were smaller. I still can't get it out of the carpet.....Caroline xx
