Advantages: A great all round cream, that works ( for a change)

Disadvantages: Sometimes can be a little messy

Sudocrem is probably one of the best antiseptic creams ever to come on to the market. It has been on our shelfs for over 70 years now and is a popular household name.
Sudocrem is mainly known as a barrier cream that helps to prevent nappy rash in babies and young children, but over the years has become known for being extremely effective in other types of skin rashes, cuts, grazes etc.

My two daughters as young babies and rarely today still suffer from nappy rash, i think it must be one of the most hated things by parents as to look at it seems horrid that this rash is hurting our children. When my first daughter was very young i wasn't to familiar with sudocrem and to be honest looking at it on the shelfs in the supermarket would think that for the price it seemed very expensive for the tiny little pot, so instead would buy a cheaper cream. Sometimes it would work and other times it wouldn't.

Sorting through the nursery one day i came across a small tester bottle which had been given free in a baby pack i had received, so i tryed using it on my daughters mild nappy rash.

The cream seemed very thick and had a very over-powering nice smell, i applied the cream to the affected area and was surprised on how well it went on and stayed on without leaving any mess. A few hours later i changed my daughter and was really impressed with how the cream had worked, it hadn't cleared up all the rash straight away, but i could see the difference it had done.

After further research i learned that it was a barrier cream that stopped stools and urine coming into contact with the skin, which is the main cause of nappy rash. Then it also works to soothe and stop irritation of baby skins and to help cool the rash and gently clear it up.

Needless to say from then on sudocrem became my friend and i never used anything else, i went out and brought a 400g pot which ok seemed a lot of money at the time at about £7-8.00 but the pot lasted me for ages, as for each change only a little bit is needed.

Since then my daughters rarely suffer with the dreaded nappy rash and i use a little bit of sudocrem every now and again just to help prevent it from coming back.

I also use the cream for any cuts, grazes or mild rashes that the family might have from time to time. I find that it works as a great antiseptic and helps to ease the pain and cools the area that is being treated.

This is a definite must have for all new mums and dads, and i would recommend it. It seems expensive to buy, but the pots do last a very long time and i think that it's a small price to pay, for a happy baby!

Summary: Well worth the money,

Sudocrem is miraculous stuff. You only need a thin layer for it to work.
