Advantages: Soothes skin, variety of uses, cheap
Disadvantages: Bit messy, smells a bit!
As someone who suffers from eczema I have tried many different products to calm the itch, including some of the strongest steroid creams available prescribed by doctors, but most have done very little to ease the problem.
Throughout my three year relationship with my boyfriend I have realised that this is a product that is always in their family household, and even when we moved in together I noticed there was always a tub of it in our bathroom but never thought to ask what it was always used for.
==~~The Product~~==
Upon asking he informed me that it is not only used for nappy rash (which is what I always thought), it can be used on burns, cuts and scratches, dry skin and chaffing. He even told me to try it on my eczema but i wasn't convinced as nothing the doctors have ever given me worked.
About two weeks ago the itching on my arms and shoulders from my eczema was unbearable. I reluctantly agreed to apply some sudocrem, and I couldn't believe the results! The areas almost straight away felt soothed. The skin calmed down very quickly and following putting it on every night before bed for a week my eczema is so much better than it was.
By no means am I saying this is a miracle cure, but for those who are worried about the amount of steroid creams being applied to skin I would definitely advise trying this. My skin is much less red, it very rarely feels itchy anymore and I haven't applied anything from the doctors since using it. More importantly I have got my confidence back!!! - anyone who has suffered badly from eczema will know how much it can affect your confidence.
==~~Price and Availability~~==
Sudocrem is available in various sizes and in my opinion is very reasonably priced for what it can be used for. It is available in 60g, 125g, 250g and 400g. I paid £6.30 for a 400g tub. It can be found in pretty much all chemists and pharmacies, along with major supermarkets.
==~~Disadvantages?~~==
The only downsides I can see of this product is that the smell of it is not great and is quite strong - but i have smelt much worse creams for eczema, so its a compromise I am willing to take!!
It is also quite thick to try and rub into the skin and can leave you looking very pale, again a sacrifice I will make!
It can also leave your skin feeling quite clammy and sticky therefore I would definitely recommend applying it before bed and wearing old pyjamas and be prepared for it to go over your bed sheets!
Overall an excellent product with many uses, but I would definitely recommend that those suffering with eczema try this product - in my opinion much better than steroid creams - and it wont thin your skin like most other eczema treatments!!
Summary: Brilliant product which can be used for more than you think

- 21/01/09 Hiya! I used to use this a lot for my daughter when she was a baby (for the nappy area).
This is a good review, but would, (IMO, of course) benefit from proofreading - capital I for the pronoun, and spell checking)!
