Advantages: Excellant at clearing up sore spots.
Disadvantages: Sometimes doesnt spread well.
When my son made a very late appearance into the world my mum gave me a hamper of useful stuff and included in that was a pot of Sudocrem. I think everyone knows what this stuff is and although I had used it during my years as a Nursery Nurse I never actually gave much thought as to whether it worked or not.
The cream is white in colour and very thick. It is meant for nappy rash, eczema and sore bits and since I have had it I've used it on just about everything. The cream comes in just about every size you can think of and my favourite has to be the tiny 15g pots. They look so cute and are a convenient size to pop in a bag when we go out. I tend to use this sized pot all the time and just refill it from the bigger tub.
When my son was born he had a bit of a reaction to the disposable nappies we were using so we put Sudocrem on his skin and it did such a great job at clearing up the sores. He doesn't suffer from nappy rash very often but if he's looking a little red then I will put on a tiny bit and by the time I get around to the next nappy change the redness has disappeared.
My husband sometimes uses it on certain cuts that he gets when he shaves and within a day they've cleared up or a noticeable difference can be seen. He also likes to squeeze his spots, which often leaves a bit of a sore spot behind so he tends to apply the cream to the area and again it clears up really quickly.
I find that the cream is easy to apply and you don't need very much at all which is why the pot seems to last forever. The only time that the cream doesn't spread properly is when I have just wiped my son's bum with a wet wipe and the area is still a bit damp. I find that I have to dry the area first or the blob of cream just slides around on his bum without spreading properly.
Over all this is a definite 'miracle' cream and even if you don't have kids then it's worth having a pot in the first aid box. I think it's probably more expensive than the shops own brand but it's definitely one thing that I won't compromise on.
Summary: This is a must for every first aid box.

- 23/02/09 I would be lost without Sudocrem - that and E45 are the two things you should always have in your house! |

- 23/02/09 I'm still on the first pot since dd2 was born and she's nearly 2 now. |
