I have used sudocrem for many years, I even used it when my children were actually children, my oldest now being 22 and my youngest 15. I still use it now having two grandchildren and for basic uses for myself and my husband.

Sudocrem is probably more well known as a baby and nappy rash cream which it is excellent for but it can be used for many other purposes which makes it a more versatile cream.

It is quite expensive but I find a little does go a long way. A smaller tub will cost you over £3 and a larger tub over £7. You can purchase it in places like Boots, Superdrugs and even Supermarkets. I always have a smaller tub stacked away somewhere as there is no telling when any of us may need to use it.

It comes in a quite unattractive grey plastic tub with a white and red label around it clearly stating that it's Sudocrem. The lid is usually placed on securely with a peel off tab. Once peeled off the cream is easy to get to just by flipping off the lid.

We are told on the front of the tub that Sudocrem is an Antiseptic Healing Cream, it can help with Napkin Rash, Eczema, Bed Sores, Sunburn, Minor Burns, Surface Wounds, Acne and Chiblains.

The cream itself is very thick, and pure white in colour. Word of advice try not to get it smeared on clothes or carpet as it can be quite difficult to bring out. It doesn't have much of a smell to it, but then it doesn't need a smell to impress us as the cream works so well, it does however smell clean which is promising for an antiseptic cream.

From personal use and members of my family using this we have had some great experiences which is why I always keep at least a small pot in my meds cupboard.

Firstly it has always been used for nappy rash and sore bums. I used it on my two - back in the day and now my daughter uses it with her two. It hasn't half brought back memories watching her use it and how good the cream really is. Her sons always seem to get a really red and sore bum when teething especially and sudocrem soothes it, although it does sting them a little when the cream is gently applied. I don't think this is the actual cream stinging them though just the tenderness of their bums. It soothes their soreness and the next day - well we don't even have to wait that long within an hour or so the redness clears up and her sons seem so much more relaxed.

My daughter now and then has eczema arise at the back of her legs, which isn't a particularly bad case of eczema but it does itch and drive her crazy. I advised she tried sudocrem on it to control the itching and ease the eczema itself. It works a treat and she still uses it now. The itching calms down tremendously for her.

If I burn myself or have an open wound which I do usually end up with plenty on my arms from work - I am only a cleaner but it's surprising the damage you can do to yourself. I only apply a thin layer to my burn or my cut and it soothes them within minutes and also leaves a protective cover. As we all probably know when cut or burnt if water touches them it stings like mad. Sudocrem however is a waterproof cream so unfortunately I have no excuses for getting out of the washing up.

My daughter also uses it for her Caesarean scar, she had the op in late 2007 and still now and then it becomes sore and Sudocrem works wonders.

I would say a little goes along way with this cream, it's quite thick even when you do only spread a thin layer. It is too expensive though to be using it willy nilly.

I'd reccomend this to absolutely anybody, whether you have children or not - it is a multi purpose cream and I'm sure many of you would be pleased with what it does.

Summary: a fantastic cream with brilliant results

I think its quite quaint how the packaging states it's for "Napkin Rash" :-)
