Advantages: Antiseptic healing properties, good price, lasts for ages

Disadvantages: Can stain clothes as it is quite greasy

Many bathroom cupboards will hold a tub of Sudocrem, and mine is no exception. Sudocrem is an over the counter antiseptic healing cream that can be used to treat a number of ailments including: nappy rash, acne, eczema, sun burn and other minor burns, surface wounds and bed sores.

Sudocrem is a white cream which has quite a thick and greasy consistency. When you apply it to your skin it is not easily absorbed and instead kind of "sits" on your skin, forming a waterproof, protective layer over whatever ailment you are treating.

I have used Sudocrem to treat a variety of problems. I suffer from eczema particularly on my hands, and during a flare up I will often apply a thin layer of Sudocrem before bed time. I find it really soothes my skin and I usually see quite quick healing results after a day or two of using this. If I ever get a particularly nasty spot I will also put a dab of Sudocrem onto it before bed and I find that again, it speeds up the healing process.

In my family Sudocrem is also used as a general antiseptic cream and we all use it on minor cuts, grazes or burns. Unlike some other antiseptic creams I find it to be quite gentle, and it doesn't cause a stinging sensation when applied. This makes it especially useful for use with kids.

It is worth noting that as Sudocrem is quite greasy, it can stain clothes or bed sheets. For this reason if I am applying it to my face before bed time I will make sure I put an old pillow cover over my pillows so that I don't stain anything good.

Sudocrem comes in a pretty basic packaging - a grey tub with a red and white label. It is available in different package sizes - 400g and 125g are the most popular. I have also seen a little mini travel size tub, my baby nephew has one of these in his changing bag, and I think it is really useful for this purpose and would also be perfect for a first aid kid.

I usually buy the 125g tub, as only a small amount of Sudocrem is used with each application, I find a tub lasts me ages. I therefore prefer to buy the smaller tubs as I don't like keeping opened tubs for too long just due to hygiene reasons. A 125g tub costs in the region of £2-3 depending on where you buy it. Sudocrem is available in chemists and supermarkets.

All in all I think Sudocrem is a great product with many uses. It is reasonably priced and does exactly what it claims to do. I therefore give it a rating of 5 stars. Thanks for reading and I hope you found my review useful.

Summary: A great all round antiseptic cream
