I simply cannot live without this stuff. Having a bottle of TCP in the bathroom cupboard is as essential as waking up each morning and putting on clean pants.

TCP is a liquid antiseptic, it claims that is fights infection and soothes pain. You can but it from chemists and supermarkets in varying sized bottles. It looks medicinal even from the bottle!

The glass bottle comes with a screw top lid meaning it stays fresh for ages. A bottle of TCP will have an expiry date of around two to three years. The back of the bottle comes with very simple instructions on how to use it, though to be honest it is dead straight forward. You simply apply a bit to the affected area.

What Does It Work On?

The great thing about this stuff is that it is so versatile. I have used it on spots in the last few weeks. A nasty under the skin red spot started to appear, so I used a dab of this to help keep it it bay...and it didn't surface!

I have also used it to treat cuts and grazes and in the summer, I used a bit when I had a mosquito bite on my leg, which helped soothe the itch. One of my favourite uses is to use TCP to gargle with, for good oral hygiene. When your tonsils start to flare up, simply dilute some with water and gargle for one minute, then rinse. The TCP will help fight infection and calm throats. Great for people who get lots of colds.

Bad Points:

It has a very severe smell. If someone is wearing TCP, then you will know about it. There is no disguising the smell! It is best to use a little, as you can smell it from miles away! The smell is clean and clinical, but it does conjure up images of hospital wards and ill people!

Verdict:

Stinks, but really does work! 100 ml will cost about two quid, so a decent price too, as a bottle lasts ages.
