Advantages: antiseptic
Disadvantages: smells bad
TCP is a very smelly but useful liquid that I use on cuts and bruises and for cleaning my ear piercing and gargling with a sore throat. Its cheap to buy and works fine but it can sting a lot which is not so good.
My TCP is in a brown bottle which looks very medicated which is about right as TCP is very medicated. The smell is very strong for me and almost gives off a metallic smell. I don't like that very much.
I have a large bottle of this for £3.19 and I got a whole 200mls of the TCP for that. I needed it at first for cleaning my piercing but have used it since for other uses. I can store it in the cupboard for when I need to use it.
I have gargled with the TCP when I had a sore throat and it worked really well for me. I didn't like the taste at all it was sick, but the effect was very helpful to me when I was finished with it.
I once had a mouth ulcer and used TCP to help me with that too and I think it did help me out as the mouth ulcer went quicker than if I hadn't used the TCP.
When I gargle with this I use a 5 to 1 water and TCP mix and thats ok for me. Its what you are directed to do with the TCP to get the best from it. For my ulcer I used it on a cotton bud straight up and dabbed it on the ulcer.
When I used TCP on a graze I had to do a 50/ 50 mix with water and TCP and them put that on when I needed it. I think it helped to stop infection and get my skin healing itself.
I would recommend TCP to you as it works well, but it is not good for everything. The smell is very strong and puts me off but I still use it because it works for me.
Summary: very good stuff
