Advantages: Cleans the wound very well.

Disadvantages: None.

TCP is a good antiseptic that cleans a wound to remove germs. It is very good to help the skin to heal quickly. I have lots of grandchildren that fall over quite a lot and graze their skin, so I always like to keep one of these in my first aid kit.

The TCP comes housed in a clear brown glass bottle. The bottle has a screw off cap. Once the cap is removed it does have a strong antiseptic smell. The cap is also child proof. The liquid is a pale yellow colour. A little can be added to water to dilute to clean a wound. It is good for grazes, cuts, stings, bites or any irritation that needs an antiseptic solution to help heal the wound.

It can be applied to the cut etc using a little cotton wool. Just a quick, gentle wipe is all that is needed to clean the graze. It does sting a little at first and so it is best to just gently wipe across it and not rub too hard. It usually only stings for a minute or so, my grandchildren don't like this feeling, as most don't but they do know that after a couple of minutes the stinging will stop and it will heal the graze or cut. It fights infection really well. It is good for using on spots or any pimple that needs a little help to be removed from the skin.

I have used it neat for my own skin but not neat on my grandchildren's skin. I think for their more younger skin I just decide to use it diluted but for my skin I don't mind sometimes using it neat to kill the germs and clean a cut I may have on my skin. It does sting a little more used neat and so that is why it is advised to dilute the liquid. A wound can be dressed after it has been cleaned with this liquid. It can be re applied after a new dressing needs to be applied if a deeper cut or wound.

I recommend everyone to have a bottle of this antiseptic in their first aid kit, there is always a time when it would be needed. It can be used treat mouth ulcers and sore throats by just diluting a small amount and just gargling. I have used it to gargle but I don't like the taste of it in my mouth and afterwards, so I use a different mouth wash for a sore throat. It must not be swallowed.

The price for a 100ml bottle is priced at around just £2, I think for this price it is a good one and cheap enough for the bottle size because it does last a long time because it is not being used every day etc. I will keep buying this brand because it is always good quality. Good old TCP.

The bottle can be recycled.

I rate it 5 stars.

Summary: Cleans wounds.
