Advantages: Many uses,cheap
Disadvantages: Smell some people don't like it others love it
This amazing oil was first used by Australian Bundjalung Aborigines. Tea Tree is extracted from the leaves, flowers, bark & root of the Melaleuca alternifolia tree, which is a member of the laurel tree family & grows in New South Wales in swampy, low lying areas. It has powerful broad-range antiseptic, antibacterial & anti fungal properties. Even sensitive skins can benifit from its use as it is virtually a non-irritant, but as a precaution Tea Tree should be diluted in such cases. Tea Tree can be used in every part of the house as a disinfectant/cleanser it is proven to be 10 times stronger than carbolic acid- much safer than using all the different cleaning fluids advertised everywhere ! It is great at healing any cut or wound either surgical or accidental & works in harmony with Lavender oil to rapidly reduce healing time. Many families with small children have experienced the dreaded 'nits' - or head lice 10-20 drops added to 30 mls of your shampoo then leave on for 10 minutes can clear infestation if used daily until infestation has cleared. Prevent reinfestation occuring by adding a few drops to your usual shampoo. Mild infections are healed quickly without the use of antibiotics. Thrush can be treated with douches & baths. Any itching for whatever reason is reduced. Spots & boils do well treated with Tea Tree. The list of uses is endless so go on & give it a try! The oil can be used neat on insect bites & burns.
