Advantages: cheap and they work

Disadvantages: none

I don't like taking headache pills but there are occasions where I just can't get through the day looking after two boys under two and half with a massive headache. I always make sure these tablets are around for my hubby and on the odd day I will end up taking a couple too.

You buy Tesco Ibuprofen in tablet or caplet form and there are 16 tablets in the box which pop out of a plastic holder. Each tablet contains 200mg of Ibrupofen they cost 32p which is amazing considering nurofen cost £2.64p. I also know that I can only purchase two boxes of these in one transaction which can be a bit of a pain when you have a husband that eats them like sweets.

We usually buy the caplets as I find them easier to swallow. They don't tend to get stuck in my throat like other tablets and I can take them easily without water.

The thing I really like about these is not only are they great at getting rid of my headaches but they also have a nice taste to them. If you examine them closely you will see that they have a bit of a shine to them and when you put them in your mouth this dissolves a little and leaves a sweet taste behind.

These tablets are not only great for headaches but if you have the flu, tooth ache or general aches and pain then these will sort you out.

Tesco do there own version of paracetamol too but I find that the Ibrupofen works much quicker and is more effective.

I am a breast feeding mum so it's important that I don't take anything that will carry through to my baby or affect my milk flow. I can safely say that my doctor has 'OKed' these and any form of ibrupofen and I haven't noticed any change in Elijah when I have taken them.

Summary: Why pay more???

My Dr friend told me years ago to buy generic brands, they really are identical! With DidiDave ref to Hayfever rems, totally right. rarely you can't match the ingredients identically, I have found for a 3rd of the price!

People get so caught up in maketing hype and you are entirely right that Nurofen offers nothing different from Ibuprofen, it is purely a brand name. Similarly Calpol is no different from non-branded liquid paracetamol. Don't even get me started on hayfever remedies!
