Advantages: Works on mild pains
Disadvantages: Not great for more serious issues
One thing I constantly carry around with me is paracetamols. I get alot of headaches in general particularly in the warm heat we've been having of late for some reason. Also I suffer bad period pains and stuff like that and am generally not a very healthy person lol! Also lately though with a rigorous exercise regime I've started I get a lot of general aches and pains in my neck and muscles being a tad sore after stomach crunching and stuff.
However the other day I had an 'accident'! Yep it was all drink induced sadly! I went out with a mate all dressed up for a civilised and quiet drink thinking it was safe to wear my new and gorgeous 5 inch platform heels. Wrong! I ended up getting totally sloshed and I must have fallen over at some point cos the next day I woke up totally battered and bruised and a with a mangled knee and elbow and my ankle had ballooned to treble it's normal size and it was so bad I couldn't walk on it! Two days later the swelling was so bad I couldn't put my shoes (or trainers on lol) and it had gone completely black over the other side of my foot too. Yep I was in a terrible way!
Now normally I'd reach for some sort of Ibuphen offering but to be honest it wasn't doing a thing for me and neither was aspirin. So I got my Mum to get me some paracetamol while she was out shopping. By this point not only was my body hurting from the accident (lol) my muscles also hurt from still trying to work out at home and I was getting a cold too and was coughing like a good u! So my Mother got these for me for 32p in our local Tesco!
The Packaging....
Light and dark blue square box and on the front I'm told they are Tesco Paracetamol 500g Caplets which offer 'Effective Pain Relief' and contains 16 caplets and there's braille on the front too. Other information on the box tells me a bit about the product, I'm given dosage instructions and warnings, ingredients are given as are contact details for MA Holder (the manufacturer of these tablets on behalf of Tescos).
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Box....
For the relief of mild to moderate pain including headache, migraine, neuralgia, toothache, sore throat and period and period pain. Also for the symptomatic relief of rheumatic and muscular aches and pains, sciatica, fibrositis, lumbago, joint swelling and stiffness, influenza, feverish colds and feverishness.
Dosage....
Swallow the caplets, preferably with a drink of water.
Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years: Take one or two caplets up to four times a day, as required.
Children 6 to 12 years: Half to one caplet up to four times a day, as required.
Do not give to children under 6 years.
The Caplets Themselves....
They come in 2 white plastic trays of 8 tablets and you push them out of the backed silver foil. The caplets are white in colour, smooth in texture and not very big or thick or anything like that. They are easy to swallow and I take 2 caplets as advised with a huge drink.
Do They Work?....
Like anything that depends on how bad your pain is and where etc. I was looking to relieve me cold symptoms, reduced the stiffness in my neck, to stop the muscle aches in stomach (from exercise) and to reduce the swelling and bad pain in my ankle. No they didn't help me at all. My pains were too much for these pills to help with anything like that at all to be perfectly honest with you and I felt no relief at all with those things.
However a day or so later I had a headache and period pains and these combated all that with ease! After half an hour of taking them both my headache and period pains completely disappeared and I was very impressed with that indeed!
Conclusion....
These are not strong pain killers in my opinion (and it does state that on the box to be fair!) and I wouldn't personally bother taking them other than for for headaches and very light pains but they have a place in my medicine cabinet. I found them useless for all my other issues but I was expecting alot of pain relief from these and probably too much under the circumstances!
Easy to take though and cheap to try out!
Only available in Tesco stores.
Summary: Worth the money though!
