Advantages: Cheap, effective - but only when it comes to mild pain, easy to swallow.

Disadvantages: Not good if you're in a lot of pain.

Sometimes you don't want to take strong pain killers, especially if you're only suffering with moderate pain, which is why we always have a packet of Tesco Paracetamol Caplets in our medicine cupboard - just in case.

You can buy these tablets in Tesco's (surprisingly) and you can also buy them in petrol stations that have a Tesco's store attached (like I did a few months back). To be honest, I've never really been able to tell the difference between branded paracetamol and the supermarket's own version, so I always opt for the supermarket's non-branded version because it's so much cheaper.

Each box Tesco Paracetamol Caplets of is around 20p and for that you get 16 500mg paracetamol caplets.

These caplets come in a blue and white box and the tablets are contained in two blister packets - so you just pop the pills out as and when you need them.

You can take one or two caplets every four hours, but they're not recommended for children under the age of 12.

To consume these caplets, simply put one or two on your tongue and swallow them with water. The tablets themselves aren't as chalky as other budget paracetamol brands and they go down quite easily.

On the box it says that these tablets provide mild to moderate relief of headaches, migraine, dental pain, neuralgia, sore throat, period pains, muscle pains and backache. It also says that they give symptomatic relief from: rhumatic aches and pains, influenza, feverishness and feverish colds. However I find that they only work if I have very moderate pain and I would never take these tablets if, for example, I was suffering with tooth or earache. However, occasionally these tablets do come into their own - on Sunday I woke up with a muggy head (due to consuming one too many vodkas the night before), so I took two of these caplets to help sooth my head and around 15 minutes later I was feeling much better, they completely stopped my symptoms and I didn't need to take anything else throughout the day.

Overall I'd say that these tablets are great if you're experiencing mild pain and at 20p for a packet of 16 you can't really grumble.

Four stars.

Summary: Buy a box to help you through your festive hangovers!
