Advantages: VERY CHEAP, REASONABLE QUALITY
Disadvantages: NOT THE MOST ABSORBENT OR SOFT TISSUES AVAILABLE
Anybody who has read my earlier reviews will know that I am actively trying out some of the cheaper supermarket brands in a bid to save some pennies. With us recently having set a date for our wedding, our purse strings have got even tighter than they already were.
So, when in our Tesco supermarket the other day, I decided to try these Tesco value facial tissues instead of the usual brand I would buy.
I was immediately impressed at the price - they cost a mere 25p - which was almost a pound less than the box I would usually buy. The box stated that it contained 150 2-ply tissues, and is a normal size compared to other brands.
The packaging, it has to be said, is not altogether that attractive; it has the usual Tesco value branding, which is basically a white background, with a thick red stripe, and the "Tesco Value" logo is on the top left hand corner of the tissue box.
The packaging states that the sheet size is 204mm x 190mm. The packaging also has the FSC logo, and states "Helping you to protect the world's forests", which surprised me as I had the impression it was only more expensive brands that would bear this logo.
The tissues themselves, once pulled through the oval-shaped hole in the cardboard box, look reasonable enough on first inspection; they are of reasonable quality. They are indeed 2-ply, and whilst not being the softest tissues I have ever used, they are by no means the roughest either!
The 2-ply sheets are 'looser' than other brands in that the 2 sheets are much more easily separated, which could pose a problem if the tissue was needed to mop up a small spillage or blow a particularly full nose!
That said though, for what they cost, I have to admit I'm rather impressed and I don't feel that the quality of the tissues is so below-par that I've bought an item that cannot be used, and is not fit for its purpose. Admittedly, the tissues are by no means the best available on the market, but are reasonable enough, considering the saving I've made by buying them.
I'd recommend these tissues for everyday use, but if I had a cold, I'd probably buy a more expensive brand, as I'm dubious about the Tesco value tissues absorbency and strength. I will definitely buy these again.
Summary: Not bad quality considering the low price, i'll buy these again!
