In these times of recession where we can all feel our pennies getting pinched further and further, I am constantly on the look out for ways to save a few pence here are there. One of the main ways I do this is by changing named brands for cheaper or supermarket own brands. I had tried Sainsbury's basic tissues and I was reasonably impressed so I decided to try Tesco value tissues when I was next doing my weekly shop. Unfortunately I was not quite so impressed.

The tesco value tissues are only 36 pence for 150 tissues, all of which are two ply. They come in a rectangular cardboard box. A real bonus is that the packaging is 100% recyclable, and most things should be in this day and age in my opinion. The packaging is incredibly basic, and very recognisable as Tesco value, and I know I am a snob, but I owuld be embarassed if people came round my house, and needed a tissue and I offered them this box. I'm afraid I would have to have special guest tissues-now that sounds awful doesn't it?!

The tissues themselves do not look too different from any other brand. They are rectangular and white, but not quite as big as the kleenex mansize, more like average sized.

The tissues do not smell horrible or anything, which is important when using them so close to your face. They do not break apart as soon as they are the slightest bit wet, but if you do need some extra stregnth I would suggest doubling them up.

The real downside to these tissues is the harshness of them. They are quite hard, and when I have a cold my nose gets so sore with all the blowing. I end up having a red nose from all the soreness and then a shiney nose from all the vaseline I have to put on to make it better! I know all tissues make your nose sore after a while, but these make it sore just that little bit sooner.

If you do not have a full on cold then these are perfect for everyday use. It is just if you need constant blowing action I would suggest an upgrade!

For the price you pay these really are reasonbale tissues-just keep them hidden!
