Advantages: Many; they really work, they are easy to use and readily available

Disadvantages: Expensive

I can definitely vouch for Breathe Right Strips for alleviating snoring problems. My husband has been a snorer for as long as I have known him. He is not overweight nor a heavy drinker which are sometimes cited as causes of snoring. Many years ago, as a young boy, he had his nose broken twice due to fighting at school and with his brother! His parents didn't seem to think he needed medical treatment on these occasions so his nose has remained slightly bent ever since and this has caused some mild breahing problems and, of course, the snoring.

I read an article about Breathe Right strips in my daily paper a few years ago and it was the fact that they hold the nostrils open increasing the passage of air through the nose, that made me think they could help my husband with his snoring. I purchased a pack and was amazed to find that they worked the very first time he tried them.

One of the main worries I had about his snoring was the fact that he holds his breath for what seems like several minutes and then suddenly starts breathing again, and I know that that was stopping him from sleeping properly; this was happening constantly through the night and he was waking up still feeling tired.

However, with Breath Right strips he sleeps soundly, no longer holds his breath and the snoring has gone from ear-drum perforating (mine!) to a gentle murmur. Consequently, we are both getting a much better night's sleep.

We buy the strips in the large size, but they also them in small/medium. They look like regular plasters but have a sort of stiffener in them which, when the strips are applied, hold the nostrils apart. They are adhesive and need a bit of a tug to remove in the morning but that is a small price to pay for the benefits.

The usual price in Superdrug, other pharmacies and some supermarkets, is £6.59 for 10 but, for the last month or so, Superdrug have had them on offer for £4.39 which is a great saving. They also sell them in packs of 30 for £13.99.

I think they are one of my best discoveries and my husband would not be without them.

Summary: Highly recommended for those who wake up feeling tired due to snoring

Good to hear that it works although a pillow would also stop the noise ;)
