Advantages: good for hayfever colds and snoring!
Disadvantages: can become less effective over time
I have been a bit of an on and off snorer for a few years, and occasionally it is really bad (usually after a few to many drinks) so my better half decided to get some of these breathe right strips to see if they would work, as we have tried a few things and none of them seem to work particularily well.
I have to admit that i wasnt really sure if these would work or not, as from what i understand abut snoring there are a couple of different types of problem that cause it.
The one that I'm pretty sure affects me is a piece of epiglotis that is loose and hangs slightly when you lie down, which interferes with the air passage and vibrates causing snoring. the other is because of your sleeping position and the effect that has on your throat, nasal passage etc, which again leads to snoring because you are forcing your inside bits to make contact and in turn cause you to make that dreaded noise.
So it was with scepticism in my mind that I peeled off the back of one of the strips, which look similar to a dogs bone in shape, and planted the thing over the ridge of my nose evenly making sure that it was nicely attached, and secure.
Instantly I felt the difference, breathing through my sometimes stuffy nose was so much clearer and easier! It feels as though your nose wants to leave your face at first which is a little odd, but soon becomes unnoticable, and the menthol isnt too strong.
during my first night using these strips, apparently i didn't snore anywhere near as much as i would have normally (so I am told) and i did feel like i had had a better nights sleep.
When it comes to removing the strips in the morning, they can sometimes leave a residue on your nose but this washes off easily and doesnt cause any problems.
I have no idea whether this is a problem that just affects me, but I found that after a while the strips become less and less effective and eventually I stopped using them, however I think it may just be your body getting used to them as I have used them again recently and once again they have been working for me.
I would definately say that these strips are worth a go if you want a non invasive or non chemical short solution to snoring, and definately worth a go during the summer months if you have hayfever, as they help me with that as well, being mentholated.
Overall they are a good product for a short term fix, as i think buying them in bulk etc would start costing a fair amount.
Summary: a great idea, and a good short term solution
