Advantages: clears nasal passages

Disadvantages: too many to list

Its never nice when you are all stuffed up, nose is blocked and struggling to breathe, especially at bed time when all you want to do is go asleep and all you can think of is I can't breathe. There is nothing worse than that.

Vicks Sinex Spray has been out for years and the packaging has somewhat changed since that displayed in the picture above. That lloks like it was back in the day and I can never remember it being like that ever.

Vicks Sinex Spray give you the ability to breathe by giving fast relief to the nasal passages. It is decongestant that relieves pressure and shrinks swollen nasal passages so you can breathe more easily and basically yeah that is what it does, I can certainly account for that.

The Vicks Sinex Spray comes in a white plastic bottle that has a small pin hole at the top of it. You insert this into your nose, give it one or two quick squirts, take a deep breathe in jobs a good one and now you can breathe and it feels like that cold has gone, giving you a restful nights sleep.

To be honest I haven't used one of these for years and I vowed never to use one ever again. I have got to take my experience of Vick SInex Spray back at least ten years ago, where I suffered with an extremely bad cold, couldn't get a good night sleep and just wanted something to unstuff my nose as I slept. It does actually say on the contaier do not use for more 7 days or consult your doctor so I am possibly partly to blame for what I am going to fill you in on. I had been using Vicks for a couple of days and yes it did give me relief for around four hours, however when the four hours were up and I began to get stuffy again, I would take another squirt to help myself out and give me the ability to breathe again. Its not nice when your nose is constantly blocked and you have to rely on breathing through your mouth. Doing this I found gave me chapped lips too which wasn't very nice and irritated me.

After 7 days I found that my nasal passages were still blocked to continued to use Vicks to help me out, however as time went by and my cold had disappeared I found that I still come not breathe and continued to use this product. It was somewhats months later that I realised that I hadn't got problems with my sinuses, I had become reliant on Vicks Sinex Spray to help me breathe, using it at least four times a day.

I was living at home at the time and my parents helped me to combat this, which was actually like an addiction, I couldn't live without it. Eventually having these banned from the house, I had to ween myself off it and learn again to breathe normally without the aid of a decongestant.

Now, some tens years later I won't touch these sort of products. It does not state anywhere that the Sinex Spray can become addictive which that should be one thing that I think they should definitely include on the box.

When I find myself stuffed up with a cold, I always think shall I get one just to help me out because I know it will but to be honest I would prefer to try alternative method and find myself sucking eucalyptus sweets which do the trick when trying to go to sleep as long as you are the sort of person that drops off quick. I may put a few drops of Olbas Oil on my pillow and thats about it.

I don't know whether the constant use has done any damage to my sinuses, that I am not sure but I guess one day I will find out.

My recommendation is not to buy this kind of product as I would not like anyone to go through what I endured.

Summary: Try do without it
