Advantages: clear nose in 5 minutes

Disadvantages: quite expensive, long time damage

I'm a 14year old girl and have been using Vicks nasal spray for 5months. At first this spray was brilliant when I had a cold, but that was as I said 5 months ago and still I need to use this spray every 4 hours. I wake up in the middle of the night with a completely blocked nose and first thing in the morning is agony, I need to use Sinex 5 or 6 times in the day and countless times in the night, I now wish I never used it to start with as now I can't breathe without it. On the leaflet it says not to use over 7days but once you start you can't stop. If you've never used it before don't! Sinex is about 3 pounds a bottle which is quite alot really to say you'll be buying it over and over again.

I think the moral of the story here is to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! Becky, you have a clear case of rebound congestion which is caused when a nasal decongestant like this is used for longer than 7 days (hence the instructions not to!). Your nose becomes used to the drug so cannot cope without it. You need to stop using it straightaway and see your GP.

Ditto what everyone else has said.

Although I would probably suggest having a look online to see what you can find out about addictions. If there's a helpline on the warning leaflet or a webpage then I'd recommend you see what you can find out there.

Go and see your Doctor NOW! The dosage instructions are there for a reason. Continuing to use this is only going to do you damage.
