Advantages: Works for ten minutes.

Disadvantages: Bad for the skin, doesnt last long enough and very expensive.

Vicks vaporub is a product I and I am sure many others are well acquainted with but when I recently had to deal with both my kids having colds and stuffy noses I was told to try this Vicks product that was a lot less known to me, Vicks vapobath.

Vicks vapobath basically works like a normal every day bubble bath, you simply add it to the running water and it creates lovely bubbles but at the same time it does something regular bubble baths do not do and that is that it releases a very prominent menthol aroma into the air which helps clear bunged up noses and throats.

The main ingredients in this bubble bath are Menthol, Eucalyptus and Lavender, I am still unsure where the lavender comes into it but it is definitely in there.

My problems with this stuff are as follows, the bubbles had gone within 15 minutes of the kids getting in the bath and when you have kids like mine this is not long enough and on the second time of use my daughter had jam all over her and the instant we washed it off into the water the bubbles disappeared straight away.

Another problem with it is that the aroma lasts even less time than the bubbles so although it clears noses at the start of the bath they are blocked again by the time they get out, add to this the fact that my sister cannot use this on her kids because they both have very mild eczema and it irritates them like mad and I am left in no doubt that this is not a very good product at all.

At between £3.50 and £4 for a 250ml bottle I would definitely not recommend this to anyone, instead I would say fill the sink with hot water and a few drops of eucalyptus oil then run the kids bath with the door closed and allow the steam to absorb the eucalyptus aroma from the sink then just let the kids enjoy their usual bubble baths in the bath water.

Summary: Not really recommended.
