Vicks VapoRub is designed to relieve your colds. It works specifically on nasal catarrah, sore throats, congestion and coughs.

Vicks can be used at any time of day but I find the most effective time to use Vicks is at bed time. Everyone who has ever had a cold knows that feeling when you lie down to go to sleep and you can't breath properly. You get that fed up feeling and you realise that sleep isn't going to come any time soon for you, and it certainly won't for your other half once you start snoring!

Vicks clears up blocked noses perfectly enabling you to sleep better. The rub is rubbed into your chest and neck enabling the vapours to reach your mouth and nose. Vicks can also be melted into water to inhale the steam.

Vicks VapoRub cannot be used on babies under 6 months and should not be placed on the nostrils. It contains 4 major ingredients which are levomenthol, camphor, eucalyptus oil and turpentine oil.

I have never experienced any side effects from Vicks but the packaging does warn that the skin may redden temporarily where the product has been rubbed in. The good news is that the rub leaves your skin feeling moisturised rather than greasy as it could.

Summary: An effective relief of cold symptoms.
