My twin toddlers who are just 22 months old are doing fantastic, they have even learnt to share already and both of them decided to pass on their drasted colds to me! I am like THE biggest baby with the slightest sniffle that passes through my nostrils so I stock up on all sorts of medicines, tablets and sniffy things to ease the down in the dumps feelings but nothing for me beats good old Vicks Vaporub.

Vicks Vaporub comes in a small and compact 50g pot with a screw off lid. It's a dark blue tub with a green and white sticker around it. It clearly tells us on both the box it comes in and the plastic tub that is is Vicks Vaporub.

The whole idea of Vicks Vaporub is for you to inhale it's intensely refreshing fumes to allow easier breathing and clear airways. Of course this is only a temporary measure and the desired effects don't last for the duration of your cold but for the time you do use it it does relieve some pressure from your nostrils and throat and gives you a few minutes at least of easy breathing.

Vix is a clear gel like substance that contains ingredients such as menthol, eucalyptus and camphor. You ever tried airwaves chewing gums? They seem to revitalise your senses for the first few chews thanks to the eucalyptus and menthol they contain and this vaporub works in the same way only this time you smell rather than chew.

When you open the tub you are met by the overwhelming smell, you can't help but squint your eyes slightly as it has that burny effect which informs you this is going to be some good stuff. It is an extremely refreshingly medicated minty stench that is so strong and powerful your senses seem to breathe all at once and take one large gulp of fresh air.

You can either use the vaporub by rubbing it in your chest, throat and even your back, depending on how much you rub in to your skin this allows wafts of strong air to flow up your nostrils and clear your airways a few seconds a time. It does provide a bit of relief from that blocked nose, thick throat and snuffling breaths.

You can also use vicks vaporub by mixing the advised amount with very hot water and inhaling the powerful fumes from the bowl. This I find helps when going to bed too as it seems to refresh the air and at least let me breathe easier to at least fall asleep which is probably one of the most difficult things to do when you are full up with a cold.

This for me is a fantastic product which results in some quick and short term relief when you are feeling crappy and low with a stinking cold. Of course it's not some sort of miracle cure but if it makes you feel better for just a few minutes then it's doing something good right.

Summary: A convient product for them stinking cold times!
