I recently suffered from a really bad cold. It was mainly blocked sinuses that was my problem not that I had a sore throat. Vicks VapoRub is mainly for clearing your tubes and to make you breath easier and recover very quickly from a cold. On the front of the box Vicks comes in it says that it eases breathing effectively and it is a decongestant for colds clearing your airways so that you feel better within a day of use.

I have used VapoRub the ways it has told me but only one worked effectively. The first way the Rub can be used is by rubbing it onto the chest area, it is a very strong smell and it stings a little but this is really good because it is clearing up your lungs. Rubbing on the chest is recommended for the younger children because they can't do the second option and it would be too strong for them.

The second way to use VapoRub is to melt it in hot water which happens very quickly. This is done in a basin of hot water usually and then you put your face over the water, now take your glasses off before doing this or they will steam up. Don't put your face too near the water either or you will burn your face.

In the water you can see the liquidised Rub on the surface and then you put a towel over your head and like a hood look into the water, close your eyes if it stings and make sure there are no gaps so that the smell is not getting out. You then inhale and it is very strong at first and you may need to lift up the towel to breathe like I did because it was too much but then you can breath in perfectly.

You usually sit doing the second method for about 10 minutes and doing the chest you leave it on over night. Don't put too much VapoRub onto the chest or it might be too sticky and strong. Vicks say on the box that within hourse you should start to feel better, also this is suitable for adults and children over 6 months. They warn you not to place it in your nostrils if symptoms persist, for external u

se only.

For best results inhale when you have a blocked nose because when I did it I had a blocked nose all day then it cleared for this which annoyed me so I did it a second time and within the next day or so I was back to my normal self, I could breathe clearly again and the tissue box was not attacked every second.

Some people I know who have used this said their noses started to clear instantly and they were better within hours. I think it all depends on how bad your condition is as to how well the results will be. Either way, everyone be cleared within days.

Vicks are the best company for unblocking airways and they have always been recommended for the best cold recovery. On the sides of the box it tells you how to achieve both methods of use, with a simple illustration and simple directions. Inside there is a leafelt also which gives instructions too.

The VapoRub costs about £3.50 for 50 g but there is a lot of use out of it and it is easy to identify. The writing is in red with the green striking box with the white colour fading into it. It shows a picture of the VapoRub tub and green lines suggesting the smell going into the air. If you cannot find this you could surely get help. It can be bought in supermarkets and local pahramacies.

I use this in pranks!!
Very foolishly i rubbed a tiny bit into the corner of my eyes so that they streamed, went up to my ex and said 'how could you ditch me' then collapsed in laughter with a group of friends!! Hilarious, good for faking tears!

But i find it very effective when i use it for its real purposes too! Gr8 op :) x
