I recently injured the medial ligament in my knee by spraining it. Yes it was painful and hurt every time I moved my leg, which as I had to move about was quite often. After a visit to the doctors several days of ice treatment and some tablets I was advised to get a knee support. For the first month I was advised to wear it constantly then after when engaging in active or sporting activities.
Like with any injury or illness I highly recommend you seek the advice of a medical professional such as at doctor.
The information on the packaging also says this would be useful for minor medial or lateral instability along with acute or chronic knee conditions.
The knee support is made of neoprene and has what I would describe as flexible springs running down either side of the knee. It has an inner lining of what Vulkan call "Aerotherm" which is meant to wick the sweat away from the joint. It fully enclosed my knee joint that was the kind of support I was advised I would need. It offers a good range of motion provided your not bring the knee high up.
It comes in several sizes so you have to measure up your knee joint and see what size is right for you.
These are below
Small 12" to 14" (30 to 35 cm)
Medium 14" to 16" (35 to 40cm)
Large 16" to 18" (40 to 45cm)
Extra Large 18" to 20" (45 to 50cm)
The Vulkan Knee support was well wearing and I had no problems with it. It stood up to everything I used it for including wearing it all day every day for the first month. It also has a 12-month guarantee. I would advise leaving it somewhere to dry out other night and it can also be washed with the use of mild detergent if required.
I bought mine online and after some deliberation bought it from the Physioroom.com but it was available on several other websites including Amazon.com and sportsinjurystore.com. I would also suspect chemists and supermarkets may stock this, or if not very similar items. It was fairly expensive at around £42 pound though I bought in through Quidco for a little bit of cashback
Overall I would recommend this to anyone looking for a decent knee support that has been unlucky enough to suffer a minor knee injury.
