Advantages: Fast acting, cheap

Disadvantages: None I know of

Suffering quite a few aches and pains I usually buy paracetamols whenever I'm out and about. However I do suffer terrible period pains and I find paracetamol doesn't always help me and I really do feel quite ill with it.

For me I've never really bought aspirin tablets. I won't lie it's I know very little about them and I find there is never alot of information on the packets of aspirin like there is about paracetamol so my knowledge is limited.

Until the other day that was though! My mate a beauty therapist pointed at one of my humongous big spots and said you wanna get some aspirin on that thing pronto! When I questioned that comment all she said to do is dampen the spotty area with water and smash up a bit of powder on it! Apparently aspirin is an astringent and voila a really good cure for a zit! She wasn't wrong giving me this information either!

I tried that when I bought my first pot of aspirin and that annoying spot I couldn't shake off no matter what I tried was gone in half a day lol I called my mate to tell her it worked and she wasn't one bit surprised. So I looked on line for other uses for aspirin (apart from the usual medical things) and found out aspirin can be used to remove antiperspirant marks on clothes, that it can help green chlorinated hair (blonde's) if you rinse through with a made up solution of aspirin and water afterwards, that it's great for fungal soil infections in the ground, good for plopping in a vase of freshly cut flowers and great on bee stings and mosquito bites to help calm the bites down. So the aspirin I've been avoiding believing it to be useless all these years is actually a rather helpful household product as well as thinning my step-dad dads blood to stop his heart problems (as advise and supervised by his Doctor) lol.

The Packaging....

Cylinder shaped, white plastic tub with a twist on/off safety cap to the top of it. On the front there is a bright yellow and white label round it's middle with a drawn on picture of two round, white tablets on there and in black and dark blue writing I'm told they are Wilko Aspirin '300mg BP' Tablets for Effective Pain Relief (16 tablets). On the back of the label I'm told that each tablet contains Aspirin and Lactose and are for the relief of mild to moderate pain and given dosage and warning instructions, contact details for PL Holder (the manufacturer of this product on behalf of Wilkinson's) are given as are Wilkinson's details being given and there is a bar-code on there. Dinky pot yes and I do like the way that if you pull the label back on the outside loads more information is given such as suggested uses and a comprehensive list of warnings. However the label doesn't stick back on the pot and no where on the plain pot are you told what they are. That may be fine if you only own one Wilko's pot of pills but not if you own a few different things such as paracetamols because you could easily get confused! So I'm not keen on that!

Suggested Uses....

Headache
Migraines
Neuralgia
Toothache
Sore Throat
Period Pains
Aches And Pains
Feverish Colds And Flu
Sprains
Strains
Rheumatic Pain
Sciatica
Lumbago
Muscular Aches
Fibrositis
Joint Swelling
Stiffness

Dosage....

Adults and children over 16 years:

1-3 tablets. The dose may be repeated at 4 hour intervals, but not more than 4 doses should be taken in 24 hours. Do not give to children aged under 16 years, unless on the advice of a doctor. A lower dose is recommended for the elderly.

Taking Them....

In appearance they are small round and white and sort of a standard size pill I guess. They sport no aroma and if you take them with a big glass liquid they don't taste either.

Personally I take the 3 at a time (for maximum benefits) and I take them for aches, pains and period pains in the main. I find aspirin doesn't touch alot of my problems such as headaches or migraines and prefer for them issues to take extra strength paracetamols. However for aches and pains and particularly the period pain I experience I find them invaluable (after all they are astringent so probably good on toothache etc too). These are fast acting (within half an hour) and all I do is about 4 hours later if the pain comes back pop some more in!

Easy to swallow, no nasty side effects (for me) and the fact they work is enough for me but at 19p a pot for 16 pills these are a must have and very worth you trying out in my view!

Of course how they work depends on you personally and your issues. For on going issues of course your best to seek medical advise of course!

Only available in Wilkinson's stores.

Summary: Work for me!

I only just learnt to swallow pills, so used to take Disprin which is chewy. But since I now can I bought some - cheap - Asprin here, and didn't read the label, assuming you 'always' took 2. Turns out Mexican ones are super strength, and you take only one at a time. Whoops!
