Advantages: Prevents bites and is cheap

Disadvantages: None

Whenever we go on holiday it always costs a fortune to stock up on the essential items we need to take with us. Things like suntan lotion, after sun, painkillers, insect repellant, etc, etc soon add up when you have to buy them altogether, that is why I am always on the lookout for cheap bargains.

One of my favourite stores for toiletry items is bodycare, it is here that I found the Xpel tropical formula mosquito and insect repellant roll on, it cost the bargain price of 99p for a small deodorant sized roll on. I always doubt the effectiveness of things that are so cheap, but I thought we would give it a go. To be honest, I never suffer with insect bites, but my husband seems to attract them like crazy, he must have nicer tasting blood than me!!

As mentioned, the repellant comes in a handy roll on bottle, making application easier than rubbing in a cream. It is a small white bottle with a green label on and it also has a green screw on lid. When you take off the lid it has the usual roller ball that all deodorants have. On the back it states that it isnt suitable for children under 6 years of age and that you shouldn't apply this to the eyes or lips. You simply roll on the repellant to the areas that usually get bitten by mosquitoes. Now im not sure if everyone is different but with my husband it is mainly his arms and legs that get bitten, but I suppose these areas are the one's that are mostly exposed.

The repellant smells of neat alcohol, it has quite a chemically smell, it isnt too bad though and I didn't find it too offensive. The liquid itself is clear and quickly dries into the skin. My husband only applied this to himself on a night as this is when he usually gets attacked by the mosquitoes!!

I am pleased to say that he used this all holiday and didn't get bitten once by any insect, so it seems that it definitely works and all for the bargain price of 99p!! It just goes to show that sometimes you can pay a fortune for a product that does exactly the same as a cheaper alternative. I will definitely be stocking up on this for our next holiday!

Summary: Worked well on my husband
