The reason I decided to write a review on the Zantac 75 is because as someone who quite often suffers from indigestion and heartburn, and has tried many different alternatives, I have found the Zantac 75 not only to work but to be much more pleasant to use! Personally, I really cannot use any type of drinking indigestion remedies (such as Gaviscon or Pepto Bismol), I find them extremely sickly to the point where I start gagging. The same goes for the chalk like tablets that you must chew or suck, and most indigestion remedies I find come in this form (Rennies or Gaviscon). So for me, the Zantac 75 tablets, which must be swallowed with water are the perfect alternative.

The Zantac 75 Relief tablets come in a pack of 12 and can be bought from Boots for £3.39 or online for similar prices. I believe that you can also buy these in a bigger pack, but I have only seen the 12 pack in Boots. The Zantac 75 tablets contain the active ingredient ranitidine, which is a type of medicine called an H2 receptor antagonist. Ranitidine acts in the stomach to decrease the production of stomach acid (I will not bother explaining how exactly ranitidine works as we are not really on this website for pharmacy lessons). Anyway, by reducing the production of stomach acid, ranitidine helps relieve the symptoms of heartburn and indigestion.

One Zantac 75 tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water as soon as you have symptoms. If symptoms persist for more than one hour, or return, you may take another tablet. You must however not take more than 4 tablets in 24 hours. Also, these are only suitable for those of the age of 16 or over. I have found that within and hour of taking one of these tablets, my indigestion or heartburn will usually disappear and never yet returned the same day. In conclusion, I would really recommend these to people who detest indigestion remedies in liquid or chewy form.
