Unfortunately, I am prone to the odd cold sore and one of the things I always keep with me is a tube of Zovirax. I remember as a child having to have this on prescription from the doctor, but in recent years, this has become readily available in the supermarkets and chemists.

The tube comes in either a small metal tube or a pump..both of which are of a suitable size to hide in your pocket and apply discreetly. I usually pay around five pounds for a tube (i prefer the metal one to the pump) and this can last a long time, depending upon the nature of the coldsore outbreak.

The cream that is dispensed does not have a strong smell and is white. It massages into the skin easily and effectively and I find that it gets to work straight away. For example, I felt the tingle this morning and I have applied three lots of cream. This has made the cold sore reduce by at least 50% in a day..by tomorrow or at least 36 hours I hope that it will be gone completely!

There are other varieties of cold sore treatment available to purchase, and many supermarkets in particular make their own version of Zovirax cream...although they are usually two to three punds cheaper, I find that the cream is watery and not as effective.
