Advantages: Excellent cold sore cream, available all over the world

I am one of those unfortunate indviduals who has experienced cold sores all their life. Having said that you think I'd know better than to travel without cold sore cream! My review today is about the brand Zovirax as a cold sore cream and it's global reach.

In 2006 I travelled with my partner on the Trans Mongolian Railway west from Beijing to St Petersburg. We are both experienced travellers and know what to pack and our first aid kit normally contains everything you'd ever need - including cold sore cream.

There is one part of the journey where it is a 3-4 day train trip from South East Russia finishing in Moscow. It is on this stretch, where the only opportunity to get off the train is to grab something from the platform that I got not 1 but 3 cold sores. We raided the first aid kit, looking for our Zovirax. We always pack cold sore cream. And Zovriax, as most know is the best. We searched our packs. But no Zovirax! So I spent the next 2 days watching my cold sores grow and fester.

By the time we arrived in Moscow and met out guide, my priority was to get to a Pharmacy and get something for these cold sores. I don't speak Russian and my guide didn't quite understand what was wrong (obviously never experienced cold sores!) and attempted to interpret to the Pharmacist what I was looking for. I was using ever word to describe cold sores. Herpes, infection, sores you name it. There was lots of body language and hand gestures. They in return were offering antispectics and various sorts of creams, but not what I was looking for. Finally in frustation I said Zovirax! And suddenly everyone knew what I was taklking about. And I was immediately sold a tube of Zovriax!

As you can imagine by that stage my cold sores were in a pretty bad way, but even at that late stage I think Zovirax helped to heal them and certainly reduced the pain.

I was surprised by the global reach of this brand and how well known it is in other countries and how it synomous with cold sores!
I now know that if I am every silly enough to travel without my trusty cold sore cream and ever in the situation again, where I'm in a foreign country and need cold sore cream, people will know what I need if I ask for Zovirax!

But next time - I won't leave home without it!
