Argos 2kW Convection Heater
by rji0907
At work, we haven't reached the 21st century yet and although part of our offices are centrally heated, the part that I work in isn't so we have to rely on alternative heating to keep the offices warm. We have a few not very good wall heaters, but one office I work in hasn't got a heater so I managed to convince my boss to purchase a ... heater for it.
As the economy has hit our trade hard, I obviously wasn't given much of a budget and so I found the Argos Value 2KW Convection Heater purely because it was a decent size and didn't cost much.
This heater is available from Argos for £19.99 which for the size heater you get I don't think is that bad. The dimensions of the heater are H39 x W52 x D11cm.
As it is from the Argos Value range, you can probably gather that it is a pretty basic heater. It is predominately white with black feet and black edges. The heater has three heat setting and is thermostatically controlled. There is a large vent which runs across the top of the heater which dispenses the warm air.
This heater is quite versatile in that it can be freestanding and it is pretty sturdy on the quite wide feet attached, but it can also be wall mounted if you so wish to free up some floor space and the fixings for wall mounting do come within the box should you wish to display the heater in this way.
The heater is really quiet so the power indicator light is rather handy as it is a reminder that you need to turn the heater off as it is really easy to forget, though you do get peace of mind that should the heater become too hot, there is a safety cut out.
The heater doesn't provide instant warmth, it takes a while to build up to a degree where the entire room is at a constant warm temperature but I do like the fact that it does work and it does work well. It is really easy to control the temperature and I like the fact that it is easy to maintain a constant temperature so the room doesn't feel too hot or too cold.
Considering this is a cheap and cheerful heater, it doesn't feel it at all. It works really well and although it is quite basic, it does the job it is intended to do and so long as it does that, I don't need it to look fancy or feature loads of buttons and gadgets that I wouldn't otherwise need!
Overall, this is a really decent heater for the price and works really well so therefore it comes with a recommendation from me. Read the complete review |

Utility Room 5 Bar Radiator Indoor Clothes Airer
by xxfoxyredxx
Living in a flat means I have no garden to naturally dry my washing unfortunelty. Being a clean freak I seem to be washing all the time though which means my tumble drier is usually on eating electric!
I have radiators throughout my home so when I was recently in my local Dunhelm store with a mate and saw these priced at only ... £2.99 I grabbed one to try out. I did think of buying more but I don't want washing drying all over the pace so I bought this one to pop in a room I barely go into to simply dry small items such as undies and the likes privately lol.
It is made of white coated plastic. Two sections fit securely over the radiator with five thin rungs and all you do is pop your damp washing on it whether your radiator is on or off!
Its very neat looking and not to big measuring 7" x 14" x 20. Its also lightweight so doesn't fall off my radiator and it was simple to attatch and of course its just as easy to dimantle and fold up when not in use and if your worried about it getting grubby a damp cloth wipes it over easily.
I find mine robust enough for my needs. I don't put heavy items on it just my tights and undies and so on as I pointed out earlier and all in all it has been an excellent buy for me and saves me electric too!
Recommended by me!

Challenge 1.6kW Halogen Heater
by danielastaples
This heater is a good buy , me and my partner only paid i think about £20 for it at the time.
We live in a small to medium sized flat which for some reason get very cold in winter, and very hot in the summer, unfortunately there is never any inbetween.
So last year it got very cold in mid winter, and we had previously chucked ... another rubbish heater away, and needed a new one very soon as i was 3 months pregnant at the time and the cold is never good for a pregnant lady.
So we bought this one, it was easy to find and easy to unpack as it comes in a one unit setup.
We are only hooked up to electric in our home , so everythng is run from electric (cooker ect), so this is why an electric plug in heater was out only option really.
Once you plug it in there are a few functions on the top which are for turning around, and the others act like a 1, 2, and 3 button which turn just one set of lights on, or two sets , or all three of the lights which will project the maximum amount of heat .
We use it in our living room and number 3 for about 10 minutes usually does the trick depending on how cold it is, and stays warmer for longer with the door shut.
The only minimal downfall is that it does wack your electric bill up quite a bit but thats to be expected. They normally come with a promise that "this heater is cheap to run", but really this never happens. Thia isnt too bad for us because we dont have a gas bill anyway but if you do just be slightly warned.
Besudes that it is compact slim and will look good anywhere in the room, so if your thinking of buying one just do it wjhat have you got to loose?
Thank you for reading,
