Argos 2kW Convection Heater
Advantages: gives off loads of heat, good value
Disadvantages: Dry air can make throat dry
I bought this convection heater from the Argos value range to help heat up my conservatory in the winter months. Although we have a small wall mounted electric fire it doesn't really offer up enough heat to fill the whole room when the weather is especially cold.
It cost me £21.99 and although I originally had been going to get the cheaper value hater this one was in stock to take away and I didn't have to wait for it to be delivered.
To be honest I am glad that I spend the extra few pounds on this one as I have since seen the cheaper one and it is so small that I am unsure it would give off enough heat to fill my conservatory.
As with most value products it is white but to be honest I don't think it is particularly cheap looking and think it looks quite nice actually. It has black feet and also a black trim to either side which does make it look less harsh than being entirely white might have looked.
The unit itself is nice and compact and measures 39cm in height and 52cm in width. It is just the right size to go unnoticed in my room but not too small that whatever heat it gives off is negligible. Along the top of the heater is the vent's where the hot air is blown and there are enough of these that the hot air gets fairly good ventilation.
There are three different temperature settings and the thing I like about this heater is that it is so economical to run. It doesn't take up much in the way of electric and it has a built in thermostat which cuts the heater off when it has reached the optimum temperature. This means that my room gets nice and warm but not stiflingly hot.
It starts blowing out hot air as soon as you turn it on and it can heat up my entire conservatory within ten minutes. I am really impressed with just how well this heats up the room and unlike some heater which only heat the immediate area this one actually manages to reach into the furthest corners so there is no cold areas.
The only thing that I don't like about it is that I can get a bit of a sore throat thanks to all the dry heat circulating. I have got around this by making sure that I place a glass of water next to it when it is on and this seems to help put some moisture back in the air.
As well as being free standing you can also attach the heater to the wall if you want. Because it is so unobtrusive this is something that I haven't bothered doing but I like the fact it gives me the option to do so if I want.
If you are looking for a good cheap heater that is going to heat your entire room then I can highly recommend this one. It is excellent value for the money.
Summary: An excellent value convection heater
