In September my boyfriend and I moved into our new flat which unfortunately does not have any central heating so we decided to buy this De’ Longhi as an alternative, thinking that at least we would be able to take it with us when we moved. However, we were still very apprehensive about winter, and we expected we would have to buy another one of these heaters in order to get the flat warm enough through winter. We were very pleasantly surprised!
The heater itself warms up really fast and it does put out a lot of heat. In fact we accidently melted the plastic part of our remote control when by accident we left it next to the radiator! So make sure you leave enough space around the radiator...
It is very easy to operate. You can adjust the temperature as needing and the timer is very useful as we can set it for an hour before we get up, so that the living room is nice and toasty when we have to get up very early for work.
We didn’t need to buy an additional heater; just one heats up the room very quickly (it can easily get too hot!) and if we leave all the doors open the whole flat will reach a comfortable temperature within a good time frame, even our kitchen which is always freezing. Even better was the electricity bill, which we were also dreading, but this heater hasn’t been expensive to run at all – very reasonable.
We are very happy with this heater and thoroughly recommend it!
We have electric storage heating at home, which isn't ideal in a credit crunch! Downstairs is heated quite nicely with 2 storage heaters but a damp issue and the bitter winter caused us to look at alternative forms of heating for upstairs.
We came across the Delonghi oil filled heater on a trip to our local homebase. We wanted oil filled as we had heard it was a cheap and effective form of heating. We paid around 90 pounds for it, which i thought was quite reasonable. This, of course, was going to have to be an investment!
I am pleasantly surprised by this product. The main factor for us was the 24 hour timer. This way we could just time it like we would central heating and not have to worry about it or wait for 20 minutes for your bones to thaw when you get home from work!
its 3kw which is probably at the top of the range for heaters of their kind and means you get a lot of heat from it, even at a lower setting. There are 6 settings and we find that in our bedroom (6 metres x 4 metres), setting 6 is way too hot - 4 or 5 for a cold day and 3 for a normal background heat.
There is also an Auto Heat Button that you can push which will override any timer settings, etc to give instant heat.
It's a very sleek design which means that it doesn't look out of place in any bedroom.
The one complaint we have is that its not wall mountable but the slimline design makes it quite easy to push up against a wall and not get in the way!
In all, this is a great appliance and i would definitely recommend it!
