Advantages: Easy and safe to use, well designed, efficietn in getting warm quickly
Disadvantages: Would have been better with a timer
Whilst I appreciate that we have not had a really cold winter, the temperature in my office a few months ago was really bad! We are in quite an old building and the heating system was really playing up. It is not central heating but rather a fire that sits on the wall and so it is quite dated as well as not being that good for generating a steady amount of heat. I was allowed to go and buy a plug in electric heater. As we had to get a heater in quite a rush we decided not to look too deep at the best price but brought one from our local Argos store instead and we ended up with the Glen EC532 Electric heater and here are my thoughts on the product.
As I mentioned, this was from the Argos store and it was priced at the £70.00 mark. I had no idea if this was good or bad but most things appear to be reasonably price from the store and looking at the Amazon website afterwards I saw that it was retailing for £72.00 on there so I think I had a good deal. I had not heard of the Glen brand before but the product specifications were what we were after so we went with it. There was an instruction book that came with the heater as well as a detailed manual but this really is very simple to use.
The heater looks like most other electric heaters, white and quite plain really. The heater blended into the corner of my office really well and there was a lead that allowed you to plug it into a socket some distance away from where you actually want to stand it which was good. The main controls are on the side of the heater. There is a thermostat that allows you to alter the temperature, this was one of the things that we were looking for before we made the purchase as I hate the heaters that just blast out a heat until you physically go and switch it off.
The heater gave off a gentle heat and it is powered through 200 watts of power. It is a convector heater and when it is switched on it doesn't make any noise so it is not sat making a noise when it is warming up either. We noticed a different within about an hour of plugging it in and switching it on. If we had been allowed to spend a little more money on the heater then it would have been good to have had a timer on the product as when we came in of a morning, especially when the heating was playing up, we had to wait for it to warm the office up, it would have been great to have set it to start warming up about an hour or so before we all came in.
I would be happy to recommend this product; I think that it has been a really good find as it has certainly been efficient. For the price we have paid I think it has been worth it and it has been used since in other offices. With a thin and sleek design and quite easy to move around I give this a 4 out of 5.
Thank you for reading
