Advantages: Cheap, works pretty well

Disadvantages: Looks hideous, feels cheap and tacky

When we were in our local Tesco's a while ago and my partner decided he wanted a fan heater for his office at work. As it was only being used at work, he only wanted something cheap and cheerful and ended up purchasing the Tesco Value FH11 Fan Heater.

The main thing that attracted him to this heater was the price as it retails at around £9.00, which is a pretty decent price for a fan heater. He certainly didn't choose this heater for its looks as it is the most hideous, ugly thing I have ever seen.

You can't expect much from a heater that is this cheap but it really does look rather cheap and nasty and it feels really lightweight and flimsy and I really don't think it would take much to break this heater to be honest.

However, as long as it worked, he wasn't bothered. As it happens, this heater never made it to his office as we ended up keeping it for use in our garage and conservatory. For a cheap heater, this doesn't work too badly at all. Don't get me wrong, it isn't brilliant and you don't get a 'whoosh' of nice hot air when you switch it on, but it does give out a nice, constant warm air which after a while does heat your room to a constant temperature. You certainly won't ever have the problem of being too hot with this heater, but it does definitely take the chill out of the air during the cold winter months.

The heater is predominately white plastic, with a large rounded panel at the front which is where the vents are and it has two heat settings which you control via the knob at the top of the heater.

One positive point about it being so cheap and lightweight is that at least it is easy to move from room to room so you don't have to keep it in a certain room, which means the heater is quite versatile.

We quite often use it in the garage if my partner is working on his car in there and it just makes it more comfortable for him to work with this heater on. This heater doesn't really have any special features on it, but then for this price you can't really expect any - so don't think you will be getting anything special with this heater because you won't, but it works so that's all that matters.

Overall, for a cheap heater this isn't bad. It boasts a 2000kw output which isn't half bad and although this heater won't exactly blow you away, it works well and consistently and keeps the room warm. I wouldn't recommend using this heater in a large room as it will take a while to heat the entire room but for a standard sized room in the home, this does ok and is pretty quiet too which is unusual for this type of heater. This heater comes with a recommendation from me, though not a high one.

Summary: A decent fan heater from the Tesco Value range
