Advantages: space saving in winter

Disadvantages: might not fit properly on slimline radiators

I have a multi fuel burner in my house which heats the radiators in every room of my council house, which is good in winter for drying clothes, I used to put the clothes over the radiators but the problem with this is you can only fit two items of clothing at a time on the radiator and one item on the small radiators in the box room and bathroom, so whilst sauntering around Dunelm in Hereford I saw these Utility Room 5 Bar Radiator Indoor Clothes Rails for just £2.99 and bought four of them to fit over my radiators.

They fit quite snuggly onto my radiators as they are the older style ones where you can get your hands down the back, having these utility rails on then stops socks and smaller items falling down the backs of the radiators when I close the blinds or curtains as if you put socks straight onto the radiators it's inevitable that some are going to fall down the back and you have a job getting them out.

The size of these rails are one size available in W 52cm (20") x L 35cm (14") x H 18cm (7") so I have one for each radiator, one in the bathroom, the two bedrooms and the hall way as I don't like washing in the kitchen or living room. As these are five bar rails you can fit quite a lot of washing on them and they don't tip forward or slant at an angle once you have them fitted properly.

The bars are covered in a plastic coating so they won't scratch your radiators and the arms that hook over the back are quite chunky and stable, you can wipe them clean with a damp cloth to clean them and they just sit on the radiators for when you need to use them and in my household the washing machine gets used most days, so in winter there is always washing hanging over these rails, which is why I don't like them in the living room and kitchen area.

Value for money wise these are affordable for any pocket, they are study and fit well if you have open back radiators you might struggle getting them to fit over the newer slimline radiators that you can't get your hands down the back of, but for my old style radiators these are good and save me lots of hastle from having wet washing all over the house in winter and on a rainy day.

The washing dries quickly and you have to rotate the washing as it dries obviously the clothes nearest to the radiator dries first, then you just move the next item back towards the next rail until it is all done.
You can only buy these in Dunelm but they are space saving and can be folded up and stored away in summer or just sit there over the radiators on a rainy cold winter day when you need them for drying clothes on.

All in all I am happy with this item, it's afforbable , useful and for me it is practical too.
