... have had this JVC hifi system for just over 3 years. As soon as it went out of warrenty I have had no end of problems with it. A) the volume seems to have a mind of its own, one moment is is playing at a plesant 10 on the volume scalem the next it shoots up to 30 with out warning, which can give you a startle! Philips MC 146 ... husband bought me this for Christmas. I was really chuffed when I saw what it was. It looks nice and it sounds pretty good too. You have a tape deck on the bottom which is useful for listening to those old compilations you made years ago!! Tape cassettes are so old fashioned but I still like to listen to some of those old tapes I bought when I was younger... The system is lightweight and easy to move about....it sits neatly on quite a narrow bookcase. Sound quality is really good. PROBLEMS I do have an issue with it s manual controls though. Sony CMT HX70BTR ... used to have this system and I was very happy with this. Amazing for parties because you could attach your ipod to it which makes it incredibly easy to change music etc. I think the speakers are also really cool because of their brown/ wood appearance so I think it is always nice to display them. I do think that the main body is quite bulky though however this can be hidden in a more discrete place. Also the bass is really good so you can have a variety of music playing really well. I personally don t like the buttons very much because I found that they sometimes got stuck when using, however I was able to return and replace the system with the guarantee. I think this s... Technics SC-DV290 ... was surfing through E-bay at the week end and saw a numnber of the component parts of this system available for sale so I thought I would write a review just in case anyone is tempted to purchase. We bought this Technics HiFi about 5 years ago. We were in the process of having our front room redecorated after a water leak and decided that we would treat ourselves to a new Hi fi. We chose this one as it seemed to have the best sound of those we heard in the shop even though its difficult to get a decent sound in the shop - at nearly £400 it was a bit more than we had wanted to pay but as it gave us the sound options that we were looking for we decided to opt for it.
