Advantages: cheap, well made, good bass
Disadvantages: slow and loud tape decks
I've had his hifi system for over a year now and I am still very happy with it. I have a large amount of faith in Aiwa and I am keen to buy their products again. This system, which is an updated version of the NSX S303, cost me £160.00 from Argos. It has a 3CD changer, double tape decks, and video and radio sections. It has useful features like CD Edit, which arranges tracks on a CD so they fit well onto a tape and dont leave big gaps at the end of a side. The speakers are one of the main highlights of the product. There are 2 which come in the box and ports for 4 more to be added. These speakers have 16cm built in subwoofer and a 9cm tweeter. The bass is fantastic, especially on the 'rock' graphic equalizer setting. The treble could be crisper at times but it is still good. It goes up to 50 volume which is higher than anyone would ever need; I've never had to turn it up above 25. The interface is effective and easy to use and understand. It doesnt take long to learn your way around all the features. The display is large too. The main unit feels very solid and well-built unlike some hifis in this price range, so you never get the feeling that it is cheaply made. Disadvantages are relatively loud and slow rewinding and fastforwarding on the tape decks, and a slow rotation platform for the cd changer.
