THIS HIFI MADE BY AIWA WAS TESTED WITH THE SPEAKERS THAT CAME WITH IT AS A SET AND THE SOUND WAS NOT TO GOOD . THE NSX-S999 HAS A BI-WIRE AMP OUTPUT THAT IS LEFT AND RIGHT OUT TO MID AND HIGH AND A LEFT AND RIGHT OUT FOR BASS -- GET A SET OF BASS TUBS AND A SMALL SET OF HIFI SPEAKERS AND THEN THIS HIFI HAS THE BEST SOUND EVER I MEAN IT COMES ACROSS BIG AND CLEAR . THIS AMPS TONE CONTROLS CAN BE SET IN UP A LOT OF WAYS . ONE THING THIS AMP MAKES A LOT OF HEAT DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ON THE TOP AS THE FAN NEEDS SPACES . THE CD PLAYER HAS A GOOD SOUND IT CAN SOUND A LITTLE COMPRESSED AT TIMES WITH A BIT WORK AJUSTING THE TONE CONTROLS IT CAN SOUND RIGHT . THE TWIN CASSET DECKS WORK WELL AND SOUND GOOD ON MOST TAPES . THE TUNER WAS GOOD WITH GOOD A SOUNDING FM. SO THE NSX-S999 CAN SOUND VERY GOOD WHEN IT HAS THE RIGHT SPEARERS AND IT IS JUST THE HEAT MAYBE A CLASS AMP IT MUST BE A CLASS AS IT GETS VERY VERY HOT .
This is a low-end hi-fi that I got for £30. Is it worth the price? Just about. The 3 cd-changer is a good addition because it means I can listen to audio tapes without needing to change the CD every hour or so.
It also has an FM/AM Radio, and the aerial included is very good in picking up stereo signal, although care is needed because sometimes the aerial can easily get removed from the hi-fi if you move the hi-fi for whatever reason.
Another good feature is that I can plug the audio cables from my PS3 and plug it onto the hi-fi; which allows me to listen to it from the speakers, and allowing a surround sound like experience.
There are 3 sound presets: "Rock", "Pop", and "Classical", which are a waste because they sound the same, although there is a feature which allows you to level the bass to how much to want, which is particularly useful depending on what you are listening to.
I've only used the tape player once or twice, but I've had no problems with it so far.
Installation was also very easy, as the instructions of how to are explained very well in the leaflet given.
Unfortunately, the ultimate downfall is the sound quality. Whilst I didn't expect ultra high sound quality considering the price of the speakers, the quality is so poor that I can't listen to music CD's for prolonged periods. That is why the main reason I use it is now for audio book CD's.
Overall, just about worth the price, but expect nothing special from a low-quality hi-fi.
