Advantages: great price, distortion free volume , varied controls
Disadvantages: quite bass heavy, large weight and size
I decided on the Aiwa XHA 1000 hi-fi because I'd had sound systems in the past that distorted when you turned them up a bit.. not good when you're partying or competing with neighbours.. its always good to have the option of a bit of noise, if required. In the shop I turned it up to full volume and it didn't distort, so I was sold. The official documentation says it puts out 1000W RMS.. but I think I'd be deaf by now if that was the case.. I've seen specs on US web sites indicating 800W for the same system but I still think thats excessive. Theres 5 speakers in total with good surround support and options on the system itself. The two front speakers put out big bass on seperate channels in their own compartment at the bottom and back of each speaker. I've only really connected the 2 main speakers so far (the 3 surround ones just haven't been required for music and the phantom surround keeps your options open) and until I hook it up to a DVD or TV/video that won't change. My only complaint is that the bass is sometimes too loud and the extra power would not be used by everyone. If you really only want a clear music system the XHA 1000 would be overkill. The potential for it to be the centrepiece of a high tech dolby digital 5.1 audio visual setup is what kept my eye to the future twinkling as well. The system features a 3 cd changer, a digital tuner and a auto reverse tape deck. The shuttle controls are handy for changing tracks and setup and the display has all the flashing lights you would ever want, perhaps for Karaoke as there are 2 mic inputs provided.. but I'll leave that to the experts. The remote is fully featured. I bought the system for £400 (GBP) and I would have got nothing anywhere near as good without spending a lot more money. It can be configured and connected any which way you'd probably ever want and has kept my music playing loud and clear. I'm very ha
ppy with the purchase.

- 30/08/01 that's cool. might have to re-evaluate my opinion of aiwa. My brother and dad both have aiwa stereos are they fucked up real quick, they both had problems with the c.ds not being released properly.
good first op, keep it up. |
