Advantages: Brill when Aiwa was in the driving seat
Disadvantages: Naff now sony have taken over
sadly, aiwa went but in 2001, they decided with stereos getting lower in price, it was hard to try and make people understand that a cheap stereo just plays music... but aiwa could not find a way round the falling prices, and was not going to make there systems cheap and nasty, so they went banckrupt, yes back in 2001.... so i hear you ask! who has been making them since? well aiwa went to court to declar bankrupt, when the most unliky company decided to take over there name, and pay off there debts, guess what company that was!!!!
SONY
Sony decided that they would use the name as it was a trusted and well repected name, Sony decided to use Aiwa name as there cheap range of products, and sony would be the upper class named company,
So if you have a aiwa system, that brakes down every 2 minutes, its not aiwa, we remember and respected, its SONY...
As sad as i feel saying this, i will miss aiwa's inventive ideas, and there looks, and most off all how clean the sound was,

- 14/04/09 I cant believe that a company who i have known when i was young back in the 90's... i remember the first awia stereo i got, back in 1997, the bass was totaly fantastic but at the same time keeping the sound clear, the fantastic way the CD part would light up,
Aiwa is more than just a stereo company its part of our childhoods. Sony have some big shoes to fill, they will prob mess it up, look at sony's own stereos,
volum e knob slaped in the centre with a flashing light. that was aiwa back in the 90s and yet i still see the sony hifi in shops same old look, and the sound is never that clear
Aiwa had a speaker for each task, Tweeter, Mid, Bass
worked great, and still does
I am truly feeling like i have lost something in my life, and will continue to use aiwa untill it is not repairable...
So to Aiwa i raise my glass, and say: Well done
I wish sony would stop trying to copy them, prob sony will mess it up all the more...
Hears an idea... sony should get the makers of aiwa to make a sony stereo, that way sony may for once bring a stereo that dont look 20 years old, and sound like it has a fear of good sound quality.... sony used to be a good make, but now its just bog standerd
I know it sounds like i have a problem with sony, i just wish sony could have just left awia alone, and let dead fish lie.
PS... i did say sony would mess it up, i just looked up, sony has done it! messed it up |
