I am not very technical at all I'm afraid but I will try my best to give an accurate opinion of this CD player from the manufacturer Goodmans.
The Goodmans CD1504USB was bought for my son some years ago as a present. A Christmas present I seem to recall.
At the time that he received this gift he was very into music and with this CD player he was forever playing CDs in his room and rather loudly too.
I don’t believe Goodmans to be the best make out that there is by any means but I think that for a cheaper brand of music player this manufacturer definitely has its place in the market. We can’t all afford the best quality items as they are far too expensive for many families with children but at least with the more reasonable brands music can be had by all.
My son was pleased with this CD player. I think that it looked good in his room as, at the time, it looked very up to date. Even now I don’t think it looks too bad, although models seem to get sleeker and smarter all the time.
The sound isn't the best but for a teenager wanting music systems and games systems as well a CD player had to be reasonably priced and this fit the bill.
At the time of purchasing my husband thought that this model did sound better than many of the other cheaper brands that we had listened to.
It’s very easy to operate with clear controls for the CD player and the radio.
My son liked that it had a remote control with it.
As to longevity, well it is still working so I can’t fault it on that at all.
I was given this Goodmans for a Christmas present. The system is pleasant to look at - silver in colour and simple to use however there is a large radio tuning button in the middle of the system which is in my opinion a bit ugly. The speakers have removable fronts which are easy to clip on and off. The remote control is very small and fiddly to use. I only use the CD player, I found the radio time consuming to tune in. The first couple of months the system worked fine. However after a few months of use ( a couple of times a week) the speakers started 'humming' and cracking and because it was a Christmas present I did not have the receipt to return it. Prior to the speakers breaking the sound quality was only average verging on poor. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
I've had three Goodmans products in my life: A CD walkman, A DVD-TV combined, and this. Adopting the 'three strikes and you're out' tactic, I now will never purchase another Goodmans product as long as I live. All three products stopped working after about 6 months. The attractive thing about buying from Goodmans is you can get the same product you can get from a major brand for a lot cheaper; but there is an important reason for that: They make appalling products.
Getting it as a christmas present, I was reasonably impressed. I had always wanted a HiFi in my bedroom with CD capabilities - rather than having the radio on constantly with some song you hate or some annoying DJ which is what I had before. So all was well, it did exactly what I wanted it to do.
Annoyingly, I lost the receipt and within about two weeks the remote control stopped working. Obviously Goodmans couldn't help me without the receipt which is fair enough, so I put up without having a remote.
About four months later, the CD player stopped working altogether which was the whole point of getting it in the first place. "Typical Goodmans" I thought.
I've stopped using the HiFi now, and will probably be thrown away next time I'm visiting the tip.
I'm sure there are people out there with good experiences of Goodmans products, but for me I'll never buy them again.
