Advantages: we can say "they dont make 'em like they used to"
Disadvantages: Parents house looks like George and Mildreds
I dont understand how come my parents have: A chest freezer. A Bang and Olufsen Hi Fi. A hoover. An upright fridge. A bunch of power tools. ALL WHICH WERE PURCHASED IN 1970 AND ARE STILL IN FULL WORKING ORDER !! Neither of these have ever had a service or have any form of extended warranty and are still fully operational.( although now secondry items to new stuff bought in the last 5 years) BUT.. If I buy any goods (of this nature) I have to buy warranties and insurances and guarantees. and as soon as one of these runs out, the equipment will die !! I am going back to the 70s to buy myself some everlasting goods (I will not buy my time machine from Dixons though !!) Groovy !

- 21/10/00 Apart from the lack of a chest freezer, and a gramophone instead of a B&O hi-fi, I could put ditto for my mum and dad, except their stuff's from the 50's and 60's! They were puzzled when I threw away a 12 year-old music centre... something to do with rationing, methinks (their Hoover is a brilliant spherical jobby which uses the air blown out as a hovercraft cushion of air) |
