I bought an SC-AK47 stereo about 18 months ago, and I haven't looked back since! The system is reliable, has an exceptional sound quality with output power to match (240W RMS, 360W PMPO), and IMHO looks nicer than the current SC-AK4x that's out. The unit comes with an IR remote which controls pretty much everything you could want it to (except ejecting CD and tape, but why would you want to do that from a distance anyway!?). The remote range is pretty good, which is nice. The speakers are bi-wired, which simply means there are two pairs of wires to each one, one pair for mid-range and high-frequency sounds, and one pair for the sub-woofers, quaintly described by Panasonic as 'Super Woofers'. The speakers each come with a grill for the front should you wish to use it (I do), and a reasonable length of speaker cable. In addition, you get a loop antenna for AM, a trailing wire antenna for FM, a socket adapter for the FM antenna socket to allow ordinary FM coax aerials to be connected and a decent instruction manual. There are a plethora of preset EQ mappings for you to use, together with the AI EQ, which allows you to tailor the sound to your own liking. There are also a couple of 3D AI EQ presets for a sort-of spatial effect, which works better in the Australian market where I gather the system actually comes with rear speakers too. In concludion, the unit is easy to use, looks nice (especially with the twin-layer multicolour LCD screen) and produces nice quality sound. It's a winner!

I bought a panasonic skaa17 a few months back and it is an excellent choice, the first thing that attracted me to it was all the flashing lights on the front, sort of a little display that looks like a space invaders game!!, but the rest of it is excellent too, you can choose from various presets to enhance the sound of your music, such as rock, hall, flat, heavy!! It also takes a generous 5 cd's, which of course you can preset, random play etc etc.The unit also has a twin tape deck with one touch record.Plus of course a clock and timer facility as well as the usual radio channels. It comes with a remote control so you dont need to leave your chair!! Overall it looks stylish and performs brilliantly, buy it!
