With my old hi-fi (and I mean old) well and truly out dated (seriously, it had a cassette player and no cd player), I felt it was about time I updated to a newer model. Now I am not one to splash cash on things I don't regard as a necessity, and being a student, I really don't have the money to be shopping at top of the range prices. This audio system fits the bill perfectly.
When I bought this appliance it was approximately 2 -3 years ago, and I paid around £60 for it. I must say that I expect the price will have fallen significantly in that time, and the system is problably more difficult to find now (best shopping online as it's unlikely to be found on the highstreet).
The 'sa-en27' hi-fi is one in a long line of 'sa-..' models, so I've no doubt better, more hi-tech variations of this are now available. That said, this does the job I wanted fantastically well.
The model consits of two speakers, a cd player, mp3 port, and an am/fm radio. The best thing I can say about this audio system, is it is very user friendly. Coming with a small remote, you'll find it easy to navigate your way round the features, even if you're a technophobe! The sound quality is good and can go quite loud (loud enough for most people I would expect, but I like to have music very loud!). I am a big fan of the triangular design, a more impressive look than some box like mini systems!
What this system lacks, sf an ipod dock. Fear not, you can still blast out the tunes from your pocket sized friend via a small lead that goes from mp3 player (any mp3 player) to the system. An ipod dock however, is a life saver for playing music for long periods of time without running out of battery!
Overall I would recommend this, although there are better things on the market. I am glad I purchased this at the price I did, and I feel it was a good, reliable investment. Three years of heavy use, and the product is still as good as new.
